Jungle Paradise
From the moment we arrived at The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai, we were struck by the sheer amount of greenery and the hotel’s enormous, open spaces. The property feels as though it has been carefully woven into the surrounding nature preserve rather than simply built on top of it.
Our lovely suite had its own plunge pool overlooking the preserve—the perfect place to slow down and take everything in. We spent the afternoon by the main pool, where we received a rather unexpected welcome from the local raccoons. Because they are protected within the preserve, they are clearly not afraid of people. Two confidently walked over and stole French fries directly from our plate! We named them Eddie and Shawn—EDI-TION, obviously. We certainly never expected to see raccoons in a tropical setting.
That evening, we had a wonderful dinner surrounded by plants and soft, moody lighting. The restaurant was beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxed and the food was fantastic.
The following morning, we went swimming through a nearby cenote cave—an incredible experience—before returning to the hotel for a very special cocktail hour and the signing of our Edition Passport. This visit also marked another first: we presented Anna with a custom cocktail-ice stamp featuring our passport logo. She then stamped our actual passport, making this chapter officially complete.
Anna also surprised us with a tour of the extraordinary penthouse. It has its own garden, a full-size swimming pool, five bedrooms and an incredible indoor-outdoor living room. The pictures honestly do not do it justice—we were far too busy enjoying ourselves to document it properly!
The Riviera Maya EDITION is an amazing place to truly relax, but it is also wonderfully family-friendly. Between the beach, pools, nature, beautiful spaces and excellent food, there is something for everyone. And we must mention the breakfast chilaquiles—they were amazing.
A beautiful property, some very cheeky raccoons and another unforgettable stamp in our passport. 🌴🦝
